It all started in Mallorca. Two musicians crossed paths, discovered they worked rather well together, and began a journey that would take them much further than either might have imagined.
After several years performing in Dave's live band, we set off on an adventure that took our music around the world — from China and the Middle East to every part of Europe, the Caribbean and the South Pacific.
Along the way, we've performed in hotels, aboard cruise ships, at holiday resorts and in venues of all kinds. We've met wonderful people, experienced different cultures and collected memories that will stay with us for a lifetime.
But for all the incredible places music has taken us, there's something special about being back home in Liverpool. These days, we're doing what we love: performing together, entertaining audiences and helping people celebrate the moments that matter most.
And that's only part of the story. There's a lot more to discover about the two people behind Tori & Dave!
Some people are born to sit quietly in a corner. Tori definitely isn't one of them! Give her a microphone, an audience — or frankly, just a room full of people she's never met — and she's in her element.
Tori was just 16 when she started gigging around the North West, having worked every job going to buy her first microphone and sound system. Clearly, a normal teenage hobby just wasn't going to cut it!
By 20, she'd swapped home for the high seas, singing and dancing her way around the world on cruise ships. The ships eventually gave way to sunny resorts in Europe and the Caribbean, and even a stint running the entertainment in a hotel in Cyprus.
Then came Mallorca, where a last-minute change of plans led to Tori meeting a certain piano player called Dave. Her duo partner had to head home unexpectedly, leaving two months of the season to fill. Tori had heard about a pianist through friends, so she gave him a call. Dave stepped in, the music started, and the rest is history!
Fast-forward through many more adventures around the world, performing in Dave's band and as a duo.
These days, Tori is still doing what she loves best: singing, entertaining and chatting to pretty much anyone who crosses her path. She doesn't take herself too seriously, loves a laugh and has a knack for making people feel like old friends.
Dave's musical journey began at the tender age of seven, following in his dad's footsteps by learning the drums. It wasn't long before he discovered the piano — and he was hooked.
As he grew older, Dave became fascinated by the technology behind music, spending several years in recording studios writing, producing and remixing tracks for major record labels, including Virgin/EMI and Ministry of Sound. His remixes were released internationally, reaching audiences in different parts of the world. While other musicians were practising their solos, Dave was busy exploring synthesisers, production software and the latest studio gadgets. Everyone needs a hobby!
In 2009, Dave formed a seven-piece band called The Fuse and headed to Dubai for a six-month contract. One adventure led to another, taking the band to China, the Middle East and across Europe on cruise ships and ferries. Alongside playing piano, Dave managed the band, organised rehearsals and handled the technical side of the show. He even found time for the occasional keytar-powered excursion into the crowd!
Tori joined the band in 2012 and, by 2014, the pair were a couple and engaged. When The Fuse finally came to an end, they decided to take their musical adventures in a totally new direction, forming a piano-and-vocals duo and heading back to cruise ships.
With just the two of them on stage, Dave gradually found himself sharing some of the lead vocals, too. He soon discovered there's nothing quite like singing to a lively crowd and hearing the cheers erupt at the end of a song!
Dave still loves the technical side of making music, but these days he gets a real buzz from being right in the thick of the action. Who knew he'd turn out to be an accidental showman?
Our adventure as a duo began with a few months performing around the UK before heading out to sea, working on European ferries for Brittany Ferries and P&O Ferries. Little did we know that one of those jobs would change our lives.
Our promotional video and contact details caught the attention of the booking agent for Windstar Cruises, leading to an invitation to join their fleet. What we thought would be a ten-week adventure turned into two and a half years aboard Windstar's six luxury yachts, travelling across the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Baltic Sea, South Pacific and beyond.
Eventually, the lure of dry land proved too strong. We spent the next 18 months performing at TUI resorts across the Balearic and Canary Islands before becoming Entertainment Managers with APT River Cruises. For two years, we travelled Europe's rivers, overseeing entertainment, hosting activities and, of course, performing around the piano.
These experiences helped shape the act we are today. We've learned that great entertainment is about more than playing the right songs — it's about reading the room, connecting with people and turning a good night into a great one.
Now we're happily based in Liverpool, bringing everything we've learned to our live piano-and-vocals show at weddings, parties and events across the city and the North West. From laid-back cocktail favourites to full-on party anthems, we love getting audiences involved and, when the moment calls for it, getting the whole place on its feet.
After all those miles, ships, resorts and adventures, we're back on home ground, doing what we love best — making music together and giving people a great night out.
And the adventure isn't over yet…
